Kasha is a 8 year old male, neutered Chihuahua/French Bulldog mix that arrived that the AACSPCA in August, xxxx. Kasha is an independent Chihuahua! He is content to sit beside you while watching TV or working on the computer. He does NOT feel a need to be in your lap at all times. He can be quite affectionate but is not a dog who wants to be held at all times. He's quite a confident little guy! He is NOT sound sensitive or skittish, he didn't even flinch around loud noises but rather moved toward the object to investigate what made all that racket! Kasha is overweight and needs to lose a few pounds to help his aging joint health. But this should be easy with a restricted diet plus he loves to go on walks and explore. When you take out his leash he performs a little happy dance! This guy needs regular walks and time outside in order to be happy. Another great feature? He is amazing with cats! He basically ignores cats and cats seem to feel comfortable around him. He is happy to sleep on your bed, or in a crate. Kasha did NOT use his pee pads at all on a recent overnight stay with a volunteer (and no accidents but he did get up in the middle of the night to go outside). Kasha is a bit fearful and doesn't like petting over his head. He can get a bit sassy and for this reason we do not recommend him for a home with children. He appreciates touch on his chest, ear rubs, and LOVES a back rub by his tail. We encourage people to sit at Kasha's level and let him approach them and gently touch him on his chest and back. He likes being held though so we think it fear and the process of approach that sets him on edge. Most people want to rush up and pick him up "oh he's so cute" and that can be overwhelming. As he learns to trust his new family, this behavior may improve. He's an lovable guy with his own independent personality who will make a perfect fit for new family willing to work support his independence and quirkiness!
